🧬 V1.0 RELEASE


So as you can see, A Catchy Game's v1.0 has been finally released. Before explaining  the mechanics of the game, we would like to talk about the game's design. ACG's game design is based off a classic 2d arcade game where you will have three basic movements, we'll explain further.

🪅 Movements

You will play every round with a character; you will mainly use your keyboard to control this little guy. You can use A, D to move left & right; and you will also use G to use your powerup, currently this being a basket that follows you around depending on which mode it is set (you can toggle the mode with G too). We plan to add more powerups to the shop, these will be purchasable with something. 😉

🍓 Collectables

Collectables will randomly spawn at the top of the screen, they can either be strawberries, cherries, bananas or pineapples. Each collectable has an unique descending speed, making some being too easy to get and the other ones the hardest to do so. Collectables are saved to your user profile for each match you play, so try to get as many as you can! At the moment, no collectable has a higher value nor special collection perk, so don't worry if you don't catch pineapples and instead you catch cherries, they all have the same value (for now).

⌚ Gamemodes

This first version of the game only contains 1 gamemode; Timed. This gamemode will consist of a 5-minute round in which there are going to be only 3 entities: Smile, Spikeball & Delivery Guy.

🙂 Smile (Hostile Entity)

Smile will slowly appear at the background of the game's scenario, when it reaches a certain transparency coefficient, a warning will appear on the screen, then smile will proceed to spawn on one of the upper edges of the screen. Smile will bounce around the screen trying to reach the player to kill them. Smile will explode and despawn after 15-20s and can only spawn one at a time.

💥 Spikeballs (Hostile Entities)

Spikeballs act just like a fruit collectable, they will randomly spawn at the top of the screen and will rapidly descend and try to reach the player. Unlike Smile, spikeballs won't bounce but just keep going down. The game can spawn multiple spikeballs at once.

🧢 Delivery Guy (Hostile Entity)

Delivery Guy will randomly spawn without previous advice, this entity will fly across the screen loading itself up with dodgeballs that will be thrown by him trying to hit the player and causing a game over. Delivery Guy can shoot dodgeballs either slowly or fast enough to reach the player in just milliseconds.

💽 Career & User profile

There's a specific button in the menu to access your user profile, this tab will show how many of each collectable you got, how many times you have died, how many matches you have played and also how many matches you have won. These values are locally stored in your device, handle them with care!
